Youth Speaks - January 24th, 2011

The first round of the Rotary International Youth Speaks competition was held in the United Church Bridport on Thurs 20th Jan.

 

This team event caters for 11 to 17-year-olds in two categories, intermediate and senior, providing an opportunity for young people to take part in a public speaking competition in which each team delivers a proposition on a subject of their choosing.

There were two teams from Sir John Colfox and two teams from Beaminster School and additionally one sixth form team of three made up from both schools.

The winning team for the intermediate class was from Beaminster School – Ella Hegenbarth(proposer). Emma Schwier(chair) & Imogen Maconnel (speaker)

The winners of the Senior Class were from the Sir John Colfox school – Holly Parkes(proposer) Katherine Crabb(chair) Charlotte Symonds(speaker)

Brian Evans (President Rotary Club of Bridport) and Leanne Richardson (President of Britt Valley Rotary Club) presented the winners certificates.
